Labor Day Events In Arizona

Sept. 3-5

Enchantment Resort: 7 p.m. Sept. 3, 10 a.m. Sept. 4-5. Enjoy a weekend of family fun in Sedona. Kick off the adventure with a screening of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" while taking a dip in the pool. On Sept. 4, partake in such activities as yoga and bocce ball tournaments, and take in a performance by classical guitarist Gabriel Ayala. On Friday night, country singer Ken Willis kicks off the evening with a performance in the bar. Skating: The holiday weekend offers dancing and skating for youths 11-17 during Club 54 from 8 to 11 p.m. Sept. 3. Skating lessons are offered from 9 to 10 a.m. On Sept. 4, Radio Disney-type tunes are played from 10 a.m. to noon, families skate from 1 to 3:30 p.m., a glow skate is featured from 4:30 to 7 p.m. with a darkened rink, and a teen skate begins from 7 p.m to midnight. Head over to Pine, where more than 80 crafts booths sell original, hand-crafted juried items, including stained glass, jewelry, wood items, pottery and knitted baby items. Stock up on books at the sale hosted by the Pine-Strawberry library. Guests can also enjoy firehouse cuisine. Tubers are encouraged to arrive early because tube availability and parking spaces decrease by noon. The latest tube rental is at 3 p.m. Glass containers are prohibited, and ice chests are inspected. Since Arizona is too far from Cape Cod to have a clam bake, Fred's at Barney's New York is bringing the East Coast to the Southwest. Things are steaming up with clams, lobster, mussels, quahogs, red bliss potatoes, linguica sausage and corn on the cob ($26). Lobster rolls ($16) and fried clam platters ($15) are also offered.
