Hi all, I am a new resident here at Anasazi and was just told about this blog.
This is a great idea !!
It looks like everyone is having a bit of fun yet getting their gripes out in the open.
On another note, Who is having a problem with these tiny little things flying around that look like fruit flies?? Well guess what ?? they are NOT fruit flies. You did not bring them in on the fruit that you just bought.
I work for an exterminating company and I can tell you that these pests are "DRAIN FLIES".
They are attracted to and live off the build up of organic matter in all your drains.
I am not going to try to sell you exterminating services.
What I would like to do is educate you in how to rid your condo in a safe and inexpensive way using items that are normally already in your household.
Let me see a show of hands !! If there is enough response, I will post on this blog as to how to rid your home of these critters.

For JJ, I'm interested in how to rid our place of those pesty little black bugs. Thanks
Thank You. The residents see all the rules being broken everyday, and they also see when people are doing their jobs.
Everything you do on this property is visible by someone 24 hours a day. We live in a "BIG FISH BOWL"
Thank you again for the Pool Security, hope it continues every weekday and on weekends. The fence jumpers and the residents kids know the office hours and that no one is here on the weekends!
YES!
How do you get rid of drain flies?
Can you tell the source of the flies? Your drains or a neighbor's drain?
Does it do any good to do my drains if all my neighbors do nothing?
Can the HOA do the whole property or do you need to get 600 home owners to do the same thing? Good luck on this one!
Use google and you'll find many entries for drain flies, Psychodidae by their scientific name. There is a wiki entry as well for easy reference. Here and excerpt: Adult Psychodidae are typically nocturnal and associated with damp habitats. The larvae of the subfamilies Psychodinae, Sycoracinae and Horaiellinae live in aquatic to semi-terrestrial habitats, including bathroom sinks; some species are commonly nuisance pests in bathrooms. These pests are commonly removed through use of boiling water, bleach, or drain cleaner.
